The Municipality of Shawville is inviting community groups, organizations, and regional partners to work together to support the continued operation of the community arena.
Following recent evaluation and discussions, Council has identified that the current model — where Shawville taxpayers carry the majority of the financial and operational responsibility — cannot continue on its own. At the same time, Council recognizes the important role the arena plays for residents both within Shawville and across the surrounding region.
Rather than stepping away, the Municipality is actively seeking partners to help share in the operation, funding, and day-to-day support of the arena.
Council is proposing a more collaborative approach that would:
- Bring together community groups, volunteers, and partner organizations
- Provide greater flexibility in operations and fundraising
- Support the continued operation of the arena
To support this approach, the Municipality is committed to:
- Contributing funding toward arena operations
- Covering the facility lease with the Pontiac Agricultural Society
- Supporting capital improvements, including the recent approval of a new energy-efficient condenser
This approach recognizes that the arena serves a broader region, and that continued operation will require shared responsibility and participation.
Council also acknowledges the dedication of local groups and volunteers who have supported the arena over the years and looks forward to working collaboratively to move forward together.
The Municipality remains committed to ensuring that arena services continue in a way that is fair and manageable for the community.

La municipalité de Shawville invite les associations locales, les organisations et les partenaires régionaux à unir leurs forces pour soutenir la poursuite de l’exploitation de la patinoire municipale.

D’offrir une plus grande flexibilité dans la gestion et la collecte de fonds
Afin d’appuyer cette approche, la Municipalité s’engage à :
Contribuer financièrement aux opérations de l’aréna
Assumer le bail de l’installation avec la Société d’agriculture de Pontiac
Appuyer les améliorations des immobilisations, y compris l’approbation récente d’un nouveau condenseur écoénergétique
Cette approche reconnaît que l’aréna dessert une région plus vaste et que son maintien nécessitera une responsabilité et une participation partagées.
Le Conseil reconnaît également le dévouement des groupes locaux et des bénévoles qui ont soutenu l’aréna au fil des années et se réjouit de collaborer afin d’aller de l’avant ensemble.
La Municipalité demeure engagée à assurer la continuité des services de l’aréna d’une manière équitable et viable pour la communauté.
