ATTENTION RESIDENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF SHAWVILLE
You may be aware that the MRC Pontiac has recently awarded a new garbage collection contract to Centre Fillogreen located in Litchfield. This update will be effective starting Monday, August 19, 2024.
As a result, all waste from Shawville will now be directed to the FilloGreen facility in Litchfield.
In preparation for these changes, the Municipality has invested in a compactor truck and has plans to provide new garbage bins to every residential property. It will become mandatory for garbage bags to be placed within these bins for collection. Until the new bins are distributed, residents should continue to dispose of their garbage as they currently do.
For the time being, recycling procedures will not change; materials will still be sent to McGrimmon Cartage through the end of 2024. Shawville residents can continue to drop off additional recycling at no extra charge.
While McGrimmon’s remains an option for disposing of extra garbage or construction debris, please note that these services will be at the customer’s expense.
Any additional waste or construction material taken directly to Centre FilloGreen will also incur a fee payable by the customer.
The Municipality is pleased to announce the return of biannual heavy pickups, with this service resuming in 2025.
Future plans include the introduction of compost collection, which may result in further adjustments to pickup schedules.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we transition to these new waste management procedures. More detailed information will be provided as it becomes available. Thank you for your cooperation during this period of change.
